Dear Gabe Rivera, We Need a Music Meme
I want Gabe to create a music meme so I can quickly browse all the buzziest bands, singles and leaks in the music blogosphere.
I know we all read TechMeme like twice a day. And, I’m sure we’ve all checked out Gabe’s other memes WeSmirch (gossip/celebrity), memeorandum (political), and Ballbug (MLB).
Each meme covers its respective blogosphere category with a definitive snapshot of the day’s hottest blog stories. It’s great when you want to skim and don’t want to spend an hour going to each of your favorite and second-tier blogs.
Anyways, I am a huge music fan. I digest large amounts of indie, hip-hop, and blog house (yes, they have “blog house”) every week. You’ll find me visiting up to ten plus music blogs a day on top of my favorite tech and news blogs.
Sometimes it’s a real pain in the ass to visit all my favorite music blogs like Gorilla vs. Bear, marathonpacks and Missing Toof. This is why Gabe needs to create a music meme for us music fans. So we can quickly browse all the buzziest bands, singles and leaks in the music blogosphere without giving up an hour of our time.
You might say that we already have music blog aggregation sites like Hype Machine, elbo.ws and Indieum. But, these sites are completely different because they don’t aggregate post titles and editorial sections. They only aggregate mp3 files completely disregarding the editorials that create all the buzz in the first place.
If Gabe creates a music meme it won’t just benefit music fans, it will also provide him with a solid new niche revenue stream. And, it will provide music blogs with more traffic, which they will accept warmly.
