I have to admit that I’m an avid reader of Robert Scoble’s blog. I love him because he has buckets of geek enthusiasm for new technology. He’s always pumping me up about some new Internet thingamajig like Qik’s new video streaming service.
However, today Scoble really stunned me with his Luddite use of GovTrack instead of the awesome Congress 2.0 site OpenCongress.
Scoble linked up to GovTrack because BetterBadNews called him out for not yet opposing supporting Senate bill 1959 also known as the Homegrown Terrorism and Violent Radicalization act of 2007.
Scoble in his response post to BetterBadNews said “Thanks to Better Bad News for bringing this to my attention and forcing me to take a stance on it. Really horrible stuff.”
Well, I want to bring OpenCongress to Scoble’s attention. It’s totally up his super-geek alley.
You can subscribe to RSS feeds for specific bills like S.1959, so you can follow their paths through Congress (with recent bill actions and all).
You can also subscribe to RSS feeds for your Senator or Representative and get daily updates to how they voted, what bills they introduced or what meetings they attended. For Californians, get Barbara Boxer’s RSS feed or Dianne Feinstein’s RSS feed.
I totally geeked out on OpenCongress about two weeks ago with a blog post titled “Sweet! You Can Track Your Senator Via RSS.”
You can see the OpenCongress page for S.1959 here. And get the RSS feed while you’re at it.
Oh yeah, I’m sure Scoble will really love their new OpenCongress Facebook App.
Update: It should be noted that OpenCongress pulls most of its data & info from GovTrack.
