We are officially introducing a new category called “Ask Mail.”
We want readers to ask questions and we will try to answer them. Some questions (plus answers) will get posted to BUZZYEAH. You can view all our reader questions on our Askablogr profile.
Use the “Ask me a question” button over on the right sidebar to ask your questions.
Most bloggers install the Askablogr widget in their sidebar. It looks like this:
We have decided to include just the button and post good reader questions. Should be fun.
I installed the “Ask me a question” button last night and already got my first question.
It comes from Chris Devore who is the founder of Askablogr (He is also co-founder of Cooler Planet and excellent, but now defunct Judy’s Book.
He asks,
Q: Hey Andrew, welcome to Askablogr! I was just checking out your blog and the “Under $2 Crowd” is a new idea to me. What’s the origin of the term and what led to your interest in the idea?
A: Hey Chris, thanks for asking the first question!
The “Under $2 Crowd” category refers to the roughly 3 billion or so people that make under $2 per day. It’s kind of a reference poverty line that is recognized globally and used by organizations like the World Bank etc.
My initial interest in the term comes from when I started reading about microfinance (i.e. small loans to low-income entrepreneurs). In 2006, I decided to get my hands dirty with the term and did an internship at a microfinance organization in Bangalore, India. Ever since than I’ve been extremely interested in products and services created for the “Under $2 Crowd”.
