Thought-to-Speech Technology is Freaking Me Out

ambient corporation audeo

Ambient Corp is developing a neckband called the Audeo that reads nerve signals in your neck so you don’t actually have to speak out loud to have a phone conversation. All you have to do is think about voicing words to have a phone conversation.

WTF, right?!

You really need to read this New Scientist article and watch the demo video below for more info.

Near the 2:30min mark the guy demo-ing the ‘telepathic’ neckband says that future versions will allow you to augment your thoughts with info from the Internet before you speak them out loud. What?!

  • Thinking of having more really terrifies me. Socialism as a concept is not ... Whoa, for a second there I thought my reader had been hijacked to the ........
  • All you have to do is think about voicing words to have a phone conversation.............
  • That futuristic Morph video is awesome. I know its just people dreaming about future nano tech applications but its freaking awesome.

According to the YouTube video I'll be able to have my future Nokia phone smell my friends fart and tell me the exact chemical compounds (i.e. food) that it is made up of. Hahahaha yes.

I also like the fact that I'll be able to drip honey and molasses all over my phone and it won't matter.
  • I wish it was possible to cryogenically freeze myself for like 100 years so I can see shit like this in full awesomeness. And all this nano-tech stuff that just completely blows my mind like the cool new nokia morph concept which I most likely will be using in the forseeable future:
