Spam in My Gmail Inbox. That’s Blog-Worthy.

by Andrew Meyer on April 21, 2008

I can’t remember the last time spam made it to one of my Gmail inboxes. That’s what made this afternoon such a surprise. spamI got some spam.

It’s almost refreshing to get spam nowadays (in some odd way). Not only refreshing, but blog-worthy.

I remember back in the day when I used to get tons of crap at my old Yahoo! address and at my college’s Exchange-powered address. It used to make me feel loved when I had 23 unread emails per day, but than quickly deflated when 21 of them were for Mexican viagra, penis enlargement opportunities and other similar subject lines.

I congratulate the spam email from “Regina Thayer” that made it through:

gmail spam

I’ll pass, but good job “Regina”. You are like the one sperm that completes his mission.

Thanks to Gmail’s solid spam-catching technology I almost never get hardcore spam like what “Regina” sent me above. The most spammy emails I get now are offers to buy text-link ads on my blog, like this one:

text link ads

They aren’t necessarily hardcore spam like the “Regina” email, but I do click the “Report Spam” button when I receive them nonetheless.

Any other Gmail users feel nostalgic when they get spam in their inbox, or am I the only one?
